What Is the Minimalist Style Design Principles : Concept Of Minimalism
We can all appreciate every design style for the art form that it is.
Talking all about minimalism, why it’s popular, how to get it, concepts for incorporating it into your home no matter your style.
What is minimalism?
What are the concepts behind it, and where does it come from?
Minimalism is about living with your essentials, only the things you need; it’s about living with freedom.
And what does that mean?
In today’s world, where we love having things, I love to embrace the things I love and incorporate them into my space in my design.
Minimalism takes a different approach; it’s all about having less
It’s all about living free of possessions and having practical and purposeful things you need instead of just something you want.
The basic concept of minimalism is focusing on the things you need and utilitarianism
While that’s not something, I’m ever going to do in my home.
I want my home to be functional, and I want it to be intentional, but I love to be surrounded by the things I love.
The basic concepts of minimalism are easy to incorporate into any style because minimalism is not one thing.
It’s very trendy, and we’re seeing many styles trends are moving so quickly, in and out.
We kind of get caught up in them and associate whatever word or term used to describe them as that style.
The truth is, minimalism is a lifestyle, not a design style.
There are design styles based on the concept of minimalism, or I guess minimalism is based on the idea of certain design styles, and it’s about utilitarianism.
Things like wabi-sabi, Japandi, and many design styles come into play that we associate with minimalism.
We also see modern and organic styles that we associate with minimalism, even though they are monochromatic.
There’s a big difference between those, so why are we saying that many types are minimal when they’re not.
The reality of minimalism is that it’s not just about space but about just having nothing.
It’s not about where your things are.
It’s the concept that the things that you own should be functional and beautiful.
It’s about embracing the beauty of nature as the way they are very wabi-sabi in nature.
Comparing minimalism and Japanese style
Japandi is interesting, and a lot of people are very invested in Japandi. There are a lot of cool concepts behind it as well.
It is a modernized mix-up of some traditional Japanese stylings, a mix of Japanese and Scandinavian styles. And Japanese is not one specific style, nor is it like Scandinavia as a whole.
But the Scandinavian design has been trendy in a fascinating and valuable concept for a long time.
Japandi combines modern styles were taking inspiration from:
Not just from nature but also contemporary Japanese architecture styles, ideas, and concepts, and we are combining those with the vast proletarian and usefulness of the Scandinavian design.
But this is also not necessarily minimalism because we are layering and adding things in that kind of, say, Japandi instead of purely for usage.
A popular style that gets lumped in with minimalism is Scandinavian design as a whole is a primitive and rustic style.
But we have moved into this place where it’s a little bit more of a modern take on that, so I guess Scandinavian is more primitive, and Scandi is this kind of mash-up of modern meats, utilitarian meets IKEA.
The concepts of Scandinavian are utilitarianism, and that’s where it starts from, but it’s all about usefulness.
The idea of multipurpose spaces, folding chairs, and table things that tuck away allows a space to be used as a kitchen, a dining area, and living room spaces.
So interesting minimalism and valuable concept that a Scandinavian would be the idea of a folding chair, you could hang up on a wall.
It is an excellent concept because you take it down when you need it, but it serves as almost the artwork concept when it’s hanging.
When it comes to minimalism, you’re taking a piece of valuable equipment, furniture, decor, furnishing, whatever.
Utilitarianism doesn’t have any furnishing; it’s not about the artwork.
It’s about purpose and usefulness,
the idea that something you use every day as a part of your life is something you need or is a necessity.
What are a minimalistic idea concepts and design?
Minimalism isn’t just about having nothing. And it’s about the things you have been beautiful and valuable.
So it’s it is, it’s formed around the concept of living everyday objects in your life as being art as being the background of your life.
Essentially it’s not just about having nothing; it’s not just about everything being white or everything being black.
It is not explicitly a style; By eliminating some of the things you have because they’re beautiful, because you collect them, that you have just because you enjoy them.
That’s not to say to be a minimalist means you can’t have things you love or enjoy.
Still, it’s just about having the things that you use, being the things that you love and want,
as opposed to having any luxuries or unnecessary things pieces, ideas, whatever, it’s all about pulling back and being a little more useful-minded and intentional in what you’re bringing into your life.
The basic concept of minimalism isn’t an eternal idea as opposed to an external lifestyle.
Essentially, minimalism is a concept of the mind; it’s about decluttering, it’s about only having things you need and that you love and enjoy that serve a purpose for you.
So when we say that you kind of live free with minimalism, it’s not about being free of possessions and having things, and you can go and do whatever you need.
You don’t have to think about those concepts or ideas or how this looks because you only have valuable things for you and are purposeful.
A true minimalist wouldn’t have a set of plates; they might have two or three.
A true minimalist wouldn’t have a dining set with six chairs, and if two people live in the house, they would have a table with two chairs.
Minimalism is about only having the things you need, not just a specific design style, idea, or concept.
You can have minimalism; you can incorporate it into any scale is just that idea of having the things you use around you daily.
A great idea or a great example of that would be on a console table with accessories and things you enjoy and something you like.
But on a coffee table, which you use daily, you want it to be full of things you use while you’re there.
You want to be a piece in a space in your home that functions and works for you; that’s the only thing that piece needs to do.
The idea of minimalism doesn’t mean having anything,
It doesn’t mean affordable it doesn’t necessarily have to be anything that is a preconceived notion,
minimalism can be ultra-luxurious, and you can have beautiful things; it’s just about those things being helpful and a part of your everyday life.
How to incorporate minimalism into your space into your life?
You can do that very quickly by reducing the number of things you have.
It is focusing on items that make you happy and the things that serve you a purpose.
If you have items that are maybe not necessary, but they make you happy. Does that mean they don’t serve a purpose? Well, there you have it.
What do you feel about minimalism?
Is it something you embrace in your life in your home and spaces, or are you like me and you’re just a collector?
You love to have everything, a low-key hoarder.
But it doesn’t count because everything you own is beautiful.
