How to wallpapering the wall with non-woven wallpaper:

Are you ready to turn your boring wall into a real eye-catcher? Let’s go!

Choose the wallpaper

Before you can get started, it is, of course, useful to have the wallpaper at home.

As for non-woven wallpaper: the choice is huge! Whether you want to go for a beautiful flower pattern or prefer a sleek design, non-woven wallpaper is available in many colors and patterns.

Due to this wide range, you will always find the wallpaper that suits your interior and wishes. Note that the more complicated the pattern, the tighter you will have to wallpaper.

But of course, we assume that it should work. Take a look here, for example, for some different designs for non-woven wallpaper.

Tip: When buying wallpaper, pay attention to the color and batch numbers. Please make sure they are the same to avoid color differences.

Prepare the wall

Before you start wallpapering, you will have to inspect the wall you will wallpaper. This way, you get the best result on a flat wall that has an even color.

Any color differences on the wall itself may eventually also be slightly visible through the wallpaper.

Wallpapering the wall with non-woven wallpaper is best and flattest when the wall is also this. A wall with bumps and holes is not a convenient base. If necessary, fill in the gaps and sand away the bumps before wallpapering.

Tip: Are you going to use white non-woven wallpaper? Then make sure you have a white background.

Further preparation

Is your wall completely ready for the wallpaper?

Then there are some other preparations that you need to do before you can get started. First of all, you switch off the correct groups for the power.

You do this because you remove the covers from the sockets and light switches before you start wallpapering (you’ll find out why in step 8).

To be sure that the power is off at every socket, you can measure this with a voltage tester. Pay attention! Always check whether the power is off everywhere.

Several sockets in one room can be connected to several groups. If the power is indeed off, you can safely remove the caps.

You can leave the interior (the part in the wall) in place. Pay attention! Make sure that the voltage from the sockets is also removed during wallpapering.

This way, you can hang safely. Finally, make the room dust-free and, if necessary, set your beautiful wooden table aside. After all, you don’t want wallpaper paste on this, do you?

Coat the wall with glue

The wall with non-woven wallpaper can now really begin. The nice thing about non-woven wallpaper is that you do not apply the glue to the wallpaper but the wall.

This saves a lot of mess and hassle with wet sheets of wallpaper. To cover the wall with non-woven wallpaper, you need special non-woven wallpaper glue.

You can apply the glue to the wall per track. A roller with a long handle is useful so that you can immediately apply an entire strip of glue from top to bottom.

Make sure that you always apply glue to a piece of wall that is slightly wider than one lane of your wallpaper. This way, you can be sure that the edges of the wallpaper also stick well.

Time for the first job

Wallpapering is done per job. Where you first want to cut strips of the wallpaper with other types of wallpaper, because you have to glue them in, this is not necessary with non-woven wallpaper.

It is even helpful to wallpaper directly from the roll, so you can easily move the wallpaper (as long as the glue is still wet).

If you find this inconvenient, cut a strip that is at least 5 centimeters longer than necessary. With wallpapering, you start centrally in the room.

To make sure you hang the first strip straight on the center of the wall, draw a perpendicular vertical line. You can do this using a spirit level. Stick the first track against this line.

Cutting and smoothing

When the first strip is in place, cut off the excess wallpaper at the top and bottom with a sharp hobby knife or special wallpaper scissors. Then gently smooth the track with a wallpaper spatula or dry cloth.

Be careful not to put too much pressure on the wallpaper, and the glue is still wet. This makes it easy to move the non-woven wallpaper.

Tip: Did you use too much glue?

You can carefully remove the excess glue with a cloth. You do not have to remove small air bubbles. These will disappear when the glue dries.

The next lanes

Now that the first lane is hanging, you can also stick to the next lanes. Apply the adhesive to the wall again, just slightly wider than the width of the track.

Stick the strip’s butt against each other, which means that you stick them tightly together and not over each other. Have you chosen a wallpaper with a motif?

Find the motif and stick it at the correct height against the previous track.

Tip: When wallpapering a wall with non-woven wallpaper, always take into account cutting loss. This cutting loss increases the larger the pattern you have chosen.

Wallpaper over the sockets

If you come across sockets or light switches while wallpapering, wallpaper over them. This is the reason that you removed the caps.

Now you can wallpaper over the sockets and later easily cut the wallpaper in that place with a knife. You then place the caps over this again, and the wallpaper will look super sleek.

The Last Job You’re Doing

We have already arrived at the last lane. The wallpapered with non-woven wallpaper is almost ready.

It often happens that the last strip no longer fits the entire width of the wall. If this is the case, it is useful to measure the required width and cut it off the strip, making it easier to stick the track.

Once the last strip is pasted, cut off the excess wallpaper with a utility knife; your wall is now wholly wallpapered!

Wallpapering the wall with non-woven wallpaper is easy

The nice thing is that you can slide the strips a bit as soon as you have glued them to the wall. This is not possible until the glue has completely dried.

Conveniently, no glue needs to be applied to the tracks themselves. This ensures a lot less mess and stuck-together jobs.

The firmness of non-woven wallpaper is also nice, and you will not tear it so quickly. The challenge mainly lies in the wallpapering of patterns. You have to pay extra attention to whether the patterns fit together nicely.
